Food and Beverage Industry often utilizes Atlas (Yantai) vacuum systems for optimized processes. For instance, in the packaging process of food and beverages, vacuum pumps are employed to remove air, which extends the shelf life of food and eliminates odors.

Mineral Water Deaeration

Natural spring mineral water contains carbonates, minerals, and iron. When exposed to air, the iron dissolved in the water oxidizes, causing the water to taste unpleasant. Water needs to be treated to remove iron at a pressure of approximately 50 mbar. Initially, a vacuum pump is used to remove carbides from the water before introducing it for soda production.

Deodorization of Salad Oil and Fat

Exposure to air for extended periods can cause salad oil and fat to develop unpleasant odors. Before further processing, it's necessary to remove oxidants. This can be achieved by injecting steam to absorb the odors, followed by using vacuum equipment to remove the steam.

Sterilization of Tea Leaves and Seasonings

Tea leaves and seasonings imported from tropical regions are often stored in containers before shipment, and they may carry pests, insects, fungi, and bacteria. If further processing is required, they must be sterilized first. This is achieved by placing the containers in vacuum chambers and removing the air. Then, steam or sterilizing gas is injected into the containers for sterilization.

Sausage Production

To produce sausages, mixed meat is cut into small pieces and combined with spices and additives. Evacuating the air during the cutting and mixing process prevents oxidation of the mixed meat, which can affect the taste and appearance of the sausages. A vacuum device is used to evacuate the air at a pressure of approximately 100mbar. The vacuum pump used is insensitive to the meat and particles being evacuated simultaneously.

Ham Production

It's rare to find hams dried and smoked over a traditional fireplace. Instead, hams are typically made using a brining process, which allows for faster and more direct immersion of the meat after evacuating the air.

Tobacco Product Humidification

Without proper humidification, tobacco products packaged in boxes can become overly brittle and break into fine powder during further processing. Using a vacuum pump to evacuate the air from the box and introducing steam, sometimes along with aromatic agents, can address this issue.

Vacuum Evaporator

Liquid ring vacuum pumps can assist in the evaporation of liquid substances from mixtures. Evaporators are typically tower-like structures filled with material. Depending on the actual operating conditions, the vacuum pump can be made of standard materials or stainless steel. Vacuum evaporators find applications in various industries, including milk processing plants for milk evaporation, pulp mills for concentrated liquid evaporation, chemical plants for crystallization units, and sugar factories for plate evaporators, among others.
