In the plastic industry, various processes utilize Atlas vacuum pumps, such as degassing, drying, and transfer. Vacuum technology can be applied to multiple procedures in the plastic industry.
Extruder Degassing
During the processing, thermoplastic materials melt inside the extruder and undergo degassing treatment in the screw section of the extruder. A vacuum device is used to extract gases and vapor components from the melt. Removing all low-molecular substances results in the most desirable quality of thermoplastic materials, characterized by smooth surfaces, higher strength, improved insulation properties, and lower gas generation rates.
Pneumatic Conveying System
In various stages of production, plastic spherical materials must be transferred from one location to another (e.g., from a storage bin to a dryer). This can be automated by using a pneumatic conveying system, which can accelerate the process. Pipes are laid from the starting point to the endpoint, connected to a vacuum pump or compressor.
As materials are conveyed, air in the pipes is "loaded"—comparable to a hurricane, capable of stirring up leaves or even having the strength of a typhoon that could lift rooftops off houses. Depending on the weight of the goods and the length of the pipeline, the system is designed to generate sufficient airflow, either through a vacuum pump (vacuum conveying) or compressor (pressure conveying), to pick up the materials and convey them to their destination without leaving them inside the pipeline.
Extraction and Compression of Vinyl Chloride Gas
In the process of producing PVC, vinyl chloride gas undergoes polymerization under the pressure of an automated high-pressure vessel, forming polymerized PVC. Simultaneously, the generated gas is extracted, compressed, and liquefied.
